Our History: Growth Through Service and Innovation

From a start-up company with one small building and a repair and assembly contract, CJB Industries has consistently expanded both its capabilities and chemical processing capacity. Through value-driven innovation and an unwavering commitment to providing the best customer service in the industry, we have grown into the chemical manufacturer of choice for an increasing number of customers in an expanding range of market segments.

CJB Industries was founded in Valdosta, Ga., in 1997 by R. Clinton Beeland, a chemical engineer with an entrepreneurial vision to meet the specialized, variable needs of established as well as growing companies. Shortly after opening its doors, the company moved into a small building on five acres along Cypress Street in Valdosta. Within two years, a 40,000-square-foot expansion was built to serve new customers, followed by new warehouse capacity and an analytical and formulation facility. In 2003, the company earned its ISO 9001 and TS 16949 registrations.

During a period of rapid growth from 2006 through 2008, CJB Industries expanded its Cypress Street operations three more times as it attained its ISO 14001 environmental management registration and received the prestigious distinction of being named a Ford Quality One Supplier.

The year 2009 brought another milestone of growth at CJB Industries, when the company acquired an 110,000-square-foot industrial facility, known as the Gil Harbin Plant, on Gil Harbin Industrial Boulevard in Valdosta and expanded liquid packaging operations at the Cypress Street Plant. The Gil Harbin Plant underwent a 10,000-square-foot expansion in 2011, adding processing, blending, packaging, and outside storage capabilities, while the Cypress Street Annex opened on Cypress Street as well. At the end of 2013 the Gil Harbin Plant began construction of a 42,000-square-foot addition to increase processing, warehousing and rail access.

As the company expanded throughout the first decade of the new century, it took steps to ensure that the quality of its workforce would continue to meet its high standards of excellence. Through a partnership with Georgia Work Ready, CJB Industries has secured a steady source of skilled, qualified and motivated individuals to support its operations.

Today, the Cypress and Gil Harbin plants cover nearly 310,000 square feet, while the Corporate headquarters is located in a restored historic building in downtown Valdosta. Building on its history of growth and innovation, CJB Industries is excited by its prospects for continued success in the future.
